Written by Deston Nokes, Portland Essentials lists the Rose City’s best destinations, including restaurants, brewpubs, parks, bike rides, food cart clusters, festivals, performances, bridges and the little things that make it such a special place.
Since it launched in 2010, more than 12,275 folks have downloaded Portland Essentials.
Portland’s best iPhone/iPad app is just $2.99, with no ads, a full range of photos and it can be used off-line.
Portland Essentials can be downloaded on iTunes here. Android users can download it as well.
Each entry contains a review by Deston Nokes, plus:

- Photos
- Hyperlinks to websites, facebook and twitter
- Phone numbers
- Cost range
- Operating hours
“It’s a delicious resource for those who live in Portland and for those who love to visit,” explained Nokes. “No establishment pays to be listed, they just have to be terrific.”
Portland Essentials is updated regularly to add new entries and events, and make other changes. Many updates are suggested by users, who can make recommendations on the app. Nokes wrote the content in cooperation with developer Sutro Media, which publishes iPhone/iPad travel guides for cities such as Honolulu, Paris, San Francisco, New York and Boston.
